A new-construction home we sided in dark lap siding and board-and-batten with stone veneer, trim and fascia

The house above is our work — a new-construction home we sided in dark lap siding with board-and-batten gables, stone veneer, and all new trim and fascia.

Siding is a water management system, not a skin

Most siding failures in western Montana are not the siding — they are the details behind it. Missing kick-out flashing above a roof-wall intersection. House wrap lapped the wrong direction. No clearance at grade. Caulk used where flashing belonged. We re-side houses that were done ten years ago and find rot in exactly those places every time.

When we pull your old siding, we photograph what we find and price any sheathing or framing repair before we cover it back up. You see the wall before it disappears.

What we install

Fiber cement (James Hardie and similar) for the best long-term durability and fire resistance — a real consideration in this valley. LP SmartSide for a lighter engineered-wood option with a lower installed cost and great paint life. Cedar for the look, in lap, shingle or board-and-batten. Standing seam and corrugated metal for modern accents and shop buildings.

Trim, soffit and the parts people forget

We handle fascia, soffit, freeze boards, corner boards, window and door trim, and the transitions between materials. A re-side is the moment to fix bad rooflines and undersized trim — it costs almost nothing extra while the walls are open.

Questions

Common questions

What does it cost to re-side a house in Missoula?

Fiber cement and engineered wood re-sides typically run $9 to $18 per square foot of wall area installed, including tear-off, wrap and trim. Cedar and metal vary more. Rot repair is priced separately once we can see the wall, and we send photos before doing any of it.

How long does a re-side take?

A typical single-family home takes two to four weeks depending on size, story count and how much trim work is involved. We work in sections so your house is never left open overnight.

Do you find rot on most jobs?

On older homes, often — usually at window corners, roof-wall junctions and near grade. It is almost always minor if it is caught now. We document it, price it, and get your approval before we proceed.

Fiber cement or LP SmartSide?

Fiber cement wins on longevity and fire resistance. LP SmartSide is lighter, faster to install, and usually a bit cheaper installed. Both are solid choices — we will price both so you can decide with real numbers.

Can you side just one wall or do a repair?

Yes, though matching aged siding and paint is imperfect. We are straight with you about how close the match will be before starting.
